  • We believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant, infallible and authoritative written Word of God.

  • We believe in the deity and humanity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His miraculous conception by the Holy Spirit, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, in His role as our High Priest and Advocate, and in His bodily future return to this earth in power and glory.

  • We believe the Holy Spirit restrains evil, glorifies Jesus, convicts man of sin, regenerates the spiritually dead, seals the believer for the day of redemption, indwells the believer as His temple, illuminates the believer to appraise Scripture, bestows spiritual gifts on the believer for the common good, and empowers the believer for godly living and service.

  • We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God, that through Adam’s sin the race fell, inherited a sinful nature, and became alienated from God, and that man is totally depraved (thoroughly corrupt and sinful) and of himself utterly unable to remedy his lost condition.

  • We believe that all who place their faith in Jesus for the forgiveness of sins are justified by God as a gift by His grace, that the basis for salvation is the blood Jesus shed on the cross through His sacrificial and substitutionary death, that saving faith must be in Jesus alone, that a believer is progressively sanctified, and that salvation results in the spiritual life of the believer who is held securely forever by God.

  • We believe that The Church began at Pentecost and is comprised of all born-again persons in this age, that Jesus is the head of The Church, that The Church is Jesus’ Body & Bride, and that local expressions of The Church assemble for the purpose of observing the ordinances and for worship, Bible study, fellowship, encouragement, unity, and carrying out the Great Commission.

  • We believe in the bodily return of Jesus and in the resurrection of the saved and the lost, the saved to everlasting life and the lost to everlasting damnation, and that God will execute final judgment over Satan, sin, and death.

  • The Statement of Faith does not exhaust the extent of our faith. The Bible itself is the sole and final source of all that we believe. We do believe, however, that the foregoing Statement of Faith accurately represents the teachings of the Bible and, therefore, is binding upon all members. All literature, whether in print or electronic, used in the church shall be in complete agreement with the Statement of Faith.

STATEMENTS

Practical matters rooted in our belief that Scripture provides clear guidance in different areas of faith and practice.

  • We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. (Gen 1:26-27.) Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person.

    We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one biological male and one biological female in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. (Gen 2:18-25.) We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other. (1 Cor 6:18; 7:2-5; Heb 13:4.) We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman.

    We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, fornication, homosexual behavior, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, and use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to God. (Matt 15:18-20; 1 Cor 6:9-10.)

    We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. (Acts 3:19-21; Rom 10:9-10; 1 Cor 6:9-11.)

    We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. (Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31.)

    Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture nor the doctrines of The Mount.

  • We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life.

At The Mount, our mission is simple: we are committed to "Following Jesus Together." This guiding principle reflects our commitment to growing in faith as a community, walking hand-in-hand as disciples of Christ. In a world that often emphasizes individual pursuits, we believe God calls us to something greater—a shared journey of faith where we encourage, support, and challenge one another to draw closer to Jesus.

"Following Jesus Together" reminds us that our faith isn’t lived in isolation. It’s about embracing Christ’s invitation to love God, love one another, and partner with Him in transforming the world. Together, we aim to embody the rhythms of a Christ-centered life and help each other take the next steps of obedience to His calling.

The Three Spheres of a Christian's Life

Under the banner of "Following Jesus Together," we identify three interconnected spheres that shape every believer’s journey with Christ. These spheres define the normative rhythms of a faithful Christian life: Be. Become. Do.

Be with Jesus

Key Principle: Enjoy your relationship with Jesus.

This sphere focuses on the intimate relationship between you and Jesus, rooted in the life-changing power of the Gospel. It is about enjoying the relationship given to you through salvation and fostering daily communion with Him. To be with Jesus is to center your life on worship, scripture, prayer, and personal reflection, allowing His presence to shape every moment.

Become Like Jesus

Key Principle: Cultivate the heart of Jesus.

As we spend time with Jesus, the Holy Spirit works to transform us, making us more like Christ. This sphere emphasizes inner growth and sanctification, marked by rhythms like humility, forgiveness, and holy obedience. To become like Jesus is to surrender to His work in our hearts, reflecting His love and grace in our attitudes and actions.

Being a follower of Jesus compels us to action. This sphere focuses on cooperating with Christ’s Kingdom work by sharing the Gospel, serving others, and living with an eternal perspective. To do what Jesus did is to embody His hands and feet in the world, bringing His light and truth to those around us.
